Hari Sabtu (24 Januari 2020) kemarin sempat ikut salah satu sesi di acara seru bertajuk Ruang Tengah #Bersama. Ruang Tengah #Bersama adalah festival literasi daring yang dilakukan melalui aplikasi Zoom Cloud Meeting oleh penerbit Gramedia Pustaka Utama (GPU). Festival literasi daring ini dilakukan sejak tanggal 16 - 24 Januari 2020 dengan tujuan mempertemukan penulis, pembaca serta anggota redaksi.
Hampir 30 narasumber dari berbagai profesi (di antaranya penulis, penyair, koki, dokter) meramaikan festival literasi daring ini, untuk membahas berbagai topik. Ada lebih dari 20 sesi yang dipersiapkan sesuai jadwal di sini. Dalam jadwal Ruang Tengah #Bersama tersebut memang tidak terlihat akan kehadiran sesi membahas buku Shine milik Jessica Jung. Sesi ini adalah sesi kejutan dan terpisah dari harga sesi-sesi lainnya.
Jessica Jung sang Penulis Shine
Novel perdana karya Jessica Jung berjudul Shine terbit pertama kali di September 2020. Novel ini bercerita tentang Rachel Kim seorang remaja keturunan Korea-Amerika yang ingin menjadi superstar K-Pop. Rachel berjuang bersama 8 orang rekannya untuk debut menjadi girl group baru di bawah naungan DB Entertainment - salah satu agensi hiburan besar di Korea Selatan.
Peraturan menjadi seorang anggota grup idola hanya dua - menjadi sempurna setiap saat dan tidak boleh berpacaran. Setiap harinya Rachel harus melalui banyak latihan yang ketat, ditambah dengan banyaknya cibiran akan asal muasalnya sebagai gadis yang lebih terlihat Amerika daripada Korea - Rachel melalui hari-harinya sebagai trainee (sebutan untuk mereka yang belum debut sebagai bintang idola) dengan berat.
Kehidupan Rachel Kim sebagai trainee semakin diuji ketika dia mengetahui sisi gelap industri hiburan Korea Selatan dan meragukan dirinya sendiri, apakah mungkin ia bisa bertahan dalam lingkungan ini? Jessica menuturkan melalui sesi-nya di Ruang Tengah #Bersama bertajuk Whatever It Takes, Shine! kalau kisah dalam novel ini berdasarkan kisah nyata. Tentu saja diramu dengan kisah fiksi. Jessica membiarkan pembaca untuk menebak-nebak mana aspek fiksi dan mana yang sesuai kenyataan.

Mengenai judul bukunya sendiri, Shine, Jessica menyebutkan setiap orang dapat bersinar sesuai dengan cara mereka masing-masing. Dream big! sebut Jessica ketika Sunny Dahye (MC acara Whatever It Takes, Shine!) bertanya mengenai cara bertahan dalam industri hiburan. Talenta serta passion juga dua hal utama yang dapat membuat siapapun mampu mencapai impiannya.
Novel Kedua Bertajuk Bright
Kisah Rachel Kim tidak akan berhenti di Shine, Jessica Jung telah mengungkapkan rencananya menerbitkan sekuelnya di tahun ini. Sekuel Shine, bertajuk Bright akan bercerita mengenai perjalanan Rachel Kim yang telah dewasa dan menjadi superstar K-Pop.
Rachel Kim yang ekspresif sedikit berbeda dengan Jessica yang pendiam. Persamaan keduanya adalah membenci ketimun. Jessica memang banyak memasukkan beberapa unsur pribadi dirinya ke dalam kisah Rachel Kim. Salah satu adegan kesukannya di dalam cerita adalah sesi latihan wawancara. Ketika cahaya kamera menyorot, semua bintang idola diharapkan tampil sempurna. Namun, saat itu biasanya pikiran mereka menjadi kosong dan bingung untuk menjawab. Adegan ini dapat ditemukan juga di halaman awal novel Shine.
Mengenang masa trainee-nya, Jessica Jung ingat akan berlari ke McDonalds setelah latihan untuk membeli es krim seharga 300 won.
Kehidupan Seorang Jessica Jung
Selain sebagai seorang penulis, Jessica Jung dikenal lebih dahulu sebagai penyanyi, aktris, model serta desainer. Jessica Jung memiliki lini fashion tersendiri yang bernama Blanc & Eclare. Di Indonesia, penyuka kreasi pakaian milik Blanc & Eclare dapat membelinya melalui situs Zalora. Saat ini ia juga dipercaya menjadi brand ambassador dari produk-produk Revlon. Hampir 10 juta pengikutnya di Instagram melihat betapa sibuknya perempuan berusia 31 tahun ini.
Pada acara Ruang Tengah #Bersama kemarin juga membuka sesi tanya jawab dengan Jessica Jung. Salah satu pertanyaan yang diungkapkan penggemarnya, Ellen Viola, adalah tentang caranya membagi waktu.
Setiap harinya Jessica memiliki jadwal kegiatan, ia menyiapkan jadwal ini jauh-jauh hari sebelumnya. Setelah itu, ia selalu mematuhi semua yang ada di dalam jadwal. Dengan cara itu, Jessica memiliki waktu yang cukup untuk keluarga dan teman-teman serta dirinya sendiri. Sebuah cara yang sederhana namun susah sekali menerapkannya ya?

Walaupun sesi ini secara khusus membahas mengenai bukunya, tentu saja ada pertanyaan tentang kegiatan bermusik. Apapun juga, Jessica Jung pertama kali dikenal sebagai penyanyi. Tentu ia kangen sekali dengan dunia musik.
Salah satu pertanyaan yang masuk ingin tahu mengenai rencananya untuk merilis lagu baru. Mengingat situasi pandemi saat ini, Jessica tidak terlalu yakin untuk merilis lagu baru. Ia tidak terlalu menyukai ide untuk melakukan promosi melalui platform online sehingga sampai saat ini belum ada rencana mengeluarkan lagu baru. Sekarang ia hanya menunggu saat yang tepat.
Satu Jam yang Cepat Sekali
Sesi yang seharusnya berlangsung selama satu setengah jam nyatanya hanya berjalan kurang dari satu jam. Ada beberapa masalah teknis yang sempat dialami Jessica, terutama ketika memilih pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang akan dijawabnya. Namun, semua kesalahan teknis tadi tidak mengurangi serunya sesi yang ada. MC Sunny Dahye juga mampu membuat suasana sesi menjadi meriah. Sehingga walaupun acara berlangsung daring, tetapi tetap komunikatif.

EXO CBX - BLOOMING DAY
I am a fan of EXO's work, a dedicated EXO-L in some time before turning into Wannable this past year. So, even though the degree of likeness could be slightly different, but all of EXO's release must've been made into my personal playlist. All except EXO CBX's release. CBX is an EXO unit made of the vocal line. Two of them is the main vocal, so the harmonious of a song is safely guaranteed by these unit. Nevertheless, not once did I like their release. Both Hey Mama and Ka-Ching is too messy for a song made to exposed the greatness of their vocal. A great song if it's an EXO's release, since they are famous for dance music and so forth, but I guess no for CBX. I was thinking songs like SNSD TaeTiSeo's had. Great song showcased the strengthness of the members. I know they had the ballad of Someone Like You, still I feel like lacking?

The song is an upbeat one I agree, but for me Chen's and Baekhyun's vocal is being portrayed well in the song. They have the fair share of high and low pitch, plus that kind of hush voice is really good as well. The song may not get higher results like their previous release, but it get my heart. Isn't that better? LOL
SUNMI - HEROINE
I was one of that people swimming in the massive Gashina's fever a while back lol. That song is super catchy and I couldn't wait what's in store next from Sunmi. She's one of the rare soloist that could catch my attention. Ever since 24 hours and Full Moon, Sunmi keep provided hits after hits. Not only the song, but accompanied with memorable dance choreo as well. 24 hours provided as with barefoot dancing while Full Moon showcased the sofa's dance. As for Gashina, I think safe to say everyone love the 'sexy to cute swings' in a split seconds.
So I was waiting for her next track, and the second it released, I instantly love it. Apart the controversies, I still think Sunmi manages to charm the song in her own way. In this song she become much more powerful and screams empowerment. I really like the message that goes in this song, goes with the saying 'show must goes on'. Means everything happens in all our lives, at the end of the day, we will chin up and move on.
Who would've thought that Sunmi could go this far, I think many will agree on my opinion if I said that she's the least popular members of Wonder Girls. I hardly recognizes her while still in WG. My fave is always the leader, Sunye. But look at Sunmi now, even HyunA falls behind her in the recent two comebacks last a year back. So eventhough Heroine is not as viral as Gashina, I still think this song is one of the better release in the first half of 2018. PRODUCE 48 - PICK ME (NEKKEOYA)
Since the first season, the shows always manage to bring such a catchy song as their main theme song. I have never watched the show religiously, I watched Produce 101 season 2 long after the show ended, but I know by heart all their theme song. From the first season of Pick Me to It's Me (Nayana), all songs really catchy. Not to mention the accompanied choreography that comes within.
When the season 3 introduces, one of the thing that intrigued me the most is the theme song. What kind of song will match the fever glory of the two previous songs. I guess Mnet never disappointed when producing their highlighted show of the year. They had this song from Flow Bow, the same producer's of Produce 101 Season 2's Never and Wannaone's Energetic. Never is by far the best song that Season 2 had, while Energetic is one of the songs that better showcased Wannaone's talent.
The song translated 'Mine' freely but choose the title 'Pick Me' internationally. For me, the title 'Mine' much better version, since you can practically hear they yell 'Nekkeoya' over and over again. I mean, just like 'Nayana' is a better term to describe the season 2's song. Well whatever is, the song is good. I love the cheerful atmosphere and all the trainee's teamwork here. Although the amounts of wink could cause some dizziness lol.
TVXQ - LOVE LINE
I know that their main comeback song is Chance of Love, and boy did I love that song as well. Chance of Love really portrayed the TVXQ we know, suave and smooth. The gentleman men we already familiar with. Then what makes me choose Love Line?
Love Line showed the casual and laid back version of the boys that we rarely seen. It is evident in both the music videos and stage presence on stage. Both Yunho and Changmin smile a lot, oozed that boys next door aura that you can approach anytime. It definitely a fresh new side amidst all those suit and other stage costume that they usually had. It almost feels like one of those Japanese's summer release that they had.
For me, the song shows how mature the boys now. They can easily enjoy their performance after more than 10 years in the industry, and finished the military as well. There is no need to always shows perfection on stage, that TVXQ is famous for. Now is the moment they enjoy the fame and have fun with their fan.
WANNAONE THE HEAL - SANDGLASS/HOURGLASS
This year is a guarantee to be year full of Wannaone's release. As the last year of their project, Mnet surely won't miss the opportunity to make the most of it. This year alone, they already have three different comeback with three albums. I Promise U, Boomerang and the latest one, Light. It's kind of hard to pick my favorite, since all of the releases are such a meh comparing to last year's golden of Beautiful.
Not until I knew the sub unit of The Heal. Their latest comeback allowed Wannaone to makes 4 sub-unit, then they had collaboration with different producers. Members Seongwoo and Daehwi are chosen to performed a duet called The Heal, collaborate alongside producer Heize. Heize gained public recognition after come out from music reality shows, Unpretty Rapstar. I guess this experience made Heize realized the moment Wannaone had at the moment. Being as a results of some survival shows, their fame might be temporary, and for Wannaone, they'll end the group by end of this year. READ ALSO:WHY WANNA ONE?
The feeling of both Heize and Wannone, specially Daehwi if i must point out, pour in to the lyrics of this particular song. He is a great producer himself, despite the young age. Much a like like IOI's downpour or Produce 101 Season's 2 Always, this song brings so much meaning of how precious time is.

I guess that what a temporary group is all about. They know their time is limited and will do the best they can to seize the moments. Sandglass definitely wins me in this first half of 2018.
Can not believe it's already been July, half of the year gone by so fast!
So many great music appears in the Korean pop market, I had a tough time followed it all. For me, the past six months a mixture from the new and older Kpop generation. So, it is super fun to follow. I did acknowledge did not listen to all the new release, but I tried. Any new music video appears, I go straight to Youtube to stream and then turn it up my Spotify to check the full single/mini/albums. I tried at least lol.

INFINITE - TELL ME
They definitely always had special spot in my heart. Being an Inspirit (their fandom name) for around 3 years made me had thing special bond with them. Feels like I knew them by heart. Woohyun, my favorite members, responsible for hundreds of picture I stalk every single day, day and night, on almost all of his fansites lol.
So, it breaks my heart when Hoya decided to left Infinite to pursue his own career. Honestly, I casually followed Infinite past 2014 after they release Season 2 albums, so it really come as a shock to me when I heard the news. Before Hoya news, Woohyun been caught in another scandal as well, in the same year. 2017 it's kind of a mess year for Infinite. So I am really looking forward to their new release san Hoya, before Sunggyu enlistment as well.
Safe to say, I am not disappointed. This is one of the reason why I love Infinite in the first place. Their addictive songs, harmonization between Gyu and Woohyun and all the sharp dance. All is in this masterpiece. I kind of feel some pieces left by Hoya is still there, just hoping someone could take up the role. I saw that Dongwoo is working hard to fill up the empty spot that Hoya left.
A.C.E - TAKE ME HIGHER
This is the group that I love since their pre-debut days. It's all because Park Jun Hee. Blame him lol. His one-time performance on I Can See Your Voice imitating Kangta left a deep impression on me. He surely looks like Kangta. So I began searching his other video and found out that he is a Leader of an upcoming group called A.C.E. This group is dope! They had a lot of cover from other group, boygroup and girlgroup alike. Great dancing, amazing vocals. You can go check out their masterpiece in their official Youtube account.
So it is a no wonder that I witnessed their debut day, and Cactus is a great song. I love it. But I didn't feel the same way for their follow up single, Calling. It's like a repetition from Cactus and I didn't feel the same energy that Cactus bring. Even after they released digital song, a ballad called 5STAR (Incompletion), it still did not reach my taste yet. So I keep waiting for their other works.
Summer come and suddenly Take Me Higher teasers are everywhere. I love the teasers already. It was solid. The song is fun, addictive and the choreo really exhausted just by watching lol. They did amazing, even though lacking one personnel. The song screams joyfulness during summer, full with high pitch voice and so many foot works. The stage presence still looks empty, since they're still focusing on dance routine. But their vocal is really stable. The music remove version is really good. Aside all that heavy dance routine, they sang really well.
BLACKPINK - DDU-DU DDU-DU
The long wait is end! Finally, after waiting for long year after the release of their digital single, As If It's Your Last in June 2017. The girls finally back with, again finally, their first mini album. I love all of their materials before, the songs really addictive with some hummed YG style. Not to mention that all the girls had their own fashion style that looks good and fresh.
And it is a no-brainer scenario to say that their release will be a hit. It definitely surpass every expectation. Ddu-du Ddu-du even become the first Kpop song that reach fastest Youtube views in 24 hours after release. In overall category, they only left behind Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do. The music video reached 36.2 million in the first 24 hours since release.
The song itself is so Blackpink. I couldn't say no, that they surely had the same heritage that 2NE1 left, with a youth feeling into it. One thing I found odd in the beginning is Lisa had no Rap line, I am just used to see her rapping lol. But her vocal line is quite good. For me, this song introduce me to Ji Soo as well. To me, Ji Soo is never an outstanding member, never heard her name before honestly. But her short black hair kind of attractive here, and her vocal is suit her part. Still not my fave member, but glad to say now, all 4 members of Blackpink is equally talented.
IKON - LOVE SCENARIO
I know this song, even hummed to it, before I even knew who sang it. Haha. Too damn addictive, both the melody and lyrics. Something that I never expected coming from Ikon, that said to be the shadow of Winner. Well, at least in my opinion. Since after all, they are the runner up of the show WIN several years back. Also, with the immense popularity of Really Really by Winner last 2017, I hardly could not imagine any song could top that.
But then again, I am wrong.
Love Scenario definitely could pull it off. Even by looking at their Youtube views, they win by far. Ikon start 2018 with a storm. Some articles even predicted that this song will be 2018 song of the year, even before half of the year even come. I truly believe that honestly. Ikon is not one of those group that had loyal fandom that will do anything for their faves, so I really believe their success is appeal to general masses.
TWICE - WHAT IS LOVE
I really could not believe with this group achievement! Really! They keep beating their own record one another. Not only in terms of Youtube view, but also in song. Twice is among my fave Kpop girl group at the moment. I enjoy all of their songs, and always feels in every release that the song they had later on could never be as addictive as the last one. But JYP proved me wrong. They give such a good materials to the girls so I found myself repeating the songs over and over.
I first like them during TT and always follow their material release after that. Signal is such a disappointed for me, but I still acknowledge it as one of that song stuck-in-your-mind fo re ver. Then come Likey that made me fall in love with the music video location. Last year, they close the year with Heart Shaker as a perfect closure. Such a good year is 2017 for them.
But JYP still keep another song for them to release this year. The Princess-y theme ballroom dance setting fitted perfectly with these nine girls to dance and sing together. In my office, one of the employee seat not far from me, keep replying this song over and over. It made it even harder not to make it stuck lol. Such a happy-go-lucky song.

Changing hair style, including color, is not a new trend for K-Pop idols. Most likely it's become some sort of sign that something new going to happen, whether a new albums or any other materials worth to wait. The idols industry surely adapting quickly to the trend. They'd like to give fresh concepts to the market. Being red-haired is one of the way.
Many articles already list down idols that rock the red hairs, you could find it here or here. Red, especially the cherry one, makes one stand out and give a fierce vibrate to the audience. They've done it severely to lasts strong aura in order for hyping up the audience.
There's certain performance that makes use the red hair, giving it the vibe the color represents. Strong, bold, wild and free.
KIM SUNG GYU - 60 SECONDS
The first solo from Sunggyu, main vocal of Infinite, come as a great showcase to portrait a different kind of Sunggyu as a member of Infinite. Being known as a pop group, Infinite famous for their knife-shaped choreography and catchy dance song. Kind of different with what Sunggyu intends to achieve on his solo materials. Inspired a lot by Nell, his favorite band, rock is the genre he wants to pursue. A touch of red hair bring different vibe, set apart the Infinite's Sunggyu and soloist one.
T-ARA's HYOMIN - DAY BY DAY
Day by Day is one of the hay day of T-Ara. The song remained one of the best single from the girl group up to now. The song become iconic maybe for a lot of reasons. Some of the reasons might be they have a super long 15 minutes storyline MV (music video) that follows girl struggling in life, gothic way. Later on, the storyline MV continues with the follow up single, Sexy Love. Another reason is the dance version of this song that gives different charms, being quirky and fun. But maybe, it could be because Hyomin's stunning red hair that steals the spotlight. She's that hot.
BTS's V - FIRE
What is fire without fire? That is exactly the role of V on the performance. The energy on this song, just like the title like to say, accumulate in V. Although many fans complained on how little the line he got, he still able to be in the spotlight thanks to the hair color. V looks good in red. Fire wants to tell it's okay to be yourself and do not afraid to lose. The lyrics said fire in many part of the song. V is done a good job representing the spark of that fire in the performance.
RED VELVET's JOY - RED FLAVOR
How Could one forget how fierce Joy is? Once a maknae (the youngest members) in Red Velvet, also part of the mega reality show We Got Married, where both facts able to show her unique charms. Someone that is cute and sweet. Then come Red Flavor days, that styled and prepared as a fun, fresh summer song. To liven the image of fun and fresh that shows what summer is all about, sparkling colors really a must-have choice for them. What more sparkling than red? And who could pull it out the concepts better? Joy is the safest choice. She's already familiar with the market, but not in that cold icy image of Irene. Joy's image is more approachable, a touch of red for her brings summer in 2017 much more enjoyable, with a girl next door singing the summer jam.
WANNAONE'S HA SUNG WOON - LIGHTS
The fresh new Ha Sung Woon. Who would have thought the angel voice slash the perfect skin of Wannaone able to pull off a red hair? Sungwoon gives the same impression as Kim Sung Gyu where both stands as main vocal in their respected group and never really tried have a shocking transformation. They always play it safe, since their voice alone could already give distinct color in all the songs they've been involved. So, it's a nice surprise to see both Sungwoon's distinct color in hair and voice blended well in this song. You could check the MV also here, for a great frame of Ha Sungwoon in flowers field, compliment the hair color.

Hallyu Wave mengacu pada meningkatnya popularitas budaya Korea Selatan (Korsel) secara global sejak tahun 1990an. Hallyu mengacu pada negara Korea sementara wave yang berarti gelombang, melambangkan penyebarannya yang berjalan dengan cepat. Terminologi ini pertama kali dimunculkan oleh para jurnalis Beijing, mengingat tingginya animo akan musik serta drama Korea pada saat itu di Cina.
Sebagai seseorang yang jatuh hati pada musik Korea, tentu informasi ini bukan suatu hal yang baru untuk saya. Tahun 2018 lalu pada perjalanan solo saya ke Seoul, saya mencoba mencari tahu lebih jauh tentang Hallyu Wave terkait sejarah dan keadaan aktual saat ini.
Tujuan solo travelling saya adalah menonton konser beberapa artis Korea yang jarang mengadakan konser di Indonesia. Saat sedang mencari lokasi tempat tinggal, saya menemukan area menarik untuk dikunjungi, Digital Media City (DMC). Mendengar namanya saja membuat penasaran, apalagi mengetahui seperti apa sebenarnya lokasinya. Mengingat salah satu konser yang akan saya datangi berlokasi di Seoul World Cup Stadium, tidak jauh dari DMC, saya memutuskan untuk menginap di area sekitarnya.
DMC terletak di Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, tidak jauh dari kawasan ramai Hongdae. Kawasan ini terkenal karena banyaknya stasiun televisi Korea Selatan, nasional maupun swasta, yang menjadikan lokasi ini sebagai basisnya. Beberapa agensi manajemen hiburan Korea pun memiliki kantor pusat di kawasan ini. Apabila dianalogikan, mungkin seperti Mega Kuningan di Jakarta, area prestise tempat banyak kantor bertempat.
Berikut ada sedikit gambaran singkat berbagai macam kantor stasiun televisi, yang terdapat di area DMC yang sempat saya dokumentasikan.

Sebagian besar stasiun televisi terbesar yang beroperasi di Korea Selatan ada disini. Tidak hanya stasiun televisi, terdapat pula lokasi teater untuk tempat pertunjukkan, ruang siaran radio yang terbuka untuk dilihat masyarakat umum, dinding grafiti sejarah perjalanan salah satu stasiun televisi hingga taman serta toko suvenir yang merujuk pada bagian dari fenomena Hallyu Wave.
Saya berjalan menelusuri setiap ruas jalan di DMC dengan perasaan kagum. Sungguh Korsel sangat memperhatikan aspek dunia hiburan dengan penuh perhatian. Berjalan di DMC saya mengingat-ingat tentang detail tempat ini yang sepertinya cukup familiar. Hanya mengelilingi tempat ini saja, saya dapat merasakan area drama Korea yang cukup kental. Terdapat satu toko suvenir dikhususkan untuk menjual merchandise dari drama-drama yang diproduksi salah satu stasiun televisi. Tepat di depan toko suvenir tersebut, terdapat MBC Park, dimana banyak patung kertas serta beberapa peralatan yang berasal dari berbagai drama yang diproduksi MBC berada.
Sekitar beberapa meter ke arah jalan besar, satu toko suvenir lainnya yang menjual semua pernak-pernik terkait satu acara televisi yang tengah populer saat itu, Produce 101, berlokasi. Toko ini benar-benar hanya menjual benda-benda yang terkait acara tersebut, mulai dari replika seragam yang digunakan hingga alat-alat tulis. Mereka bahkan menyediakan modifikasi seragam dalam bentuk kaus atau set untuk keluarga.
Sungguh mengagumkan bagaimana seriusnya Korsel dalam memaksimalkan euforia satu drama, atau bahkan satu acara khusus. Terlihat betapa besar investasi yang mereka keluarkan untuk melakukan semua promosi. Namun tentu saja hal itu memiliki timbal balik yang besar untuk mereka sendiri di masa depan, salah satu buktinya adalah semakin berkembangnya popularitas budaya Korea di dunia.
Satu yang membuat saya lebih kagum lagi, adalah profesionalitas dari para staf yang ada di lokasi. Mengingat faktor bahasa yang berbeda, saya tidak mengharapkan akan dapat berkomunikasi dengan lancar saat berkunjung melihat-lihat area sekitar DMC. Tapi ternyata saya salah. Memasuki dua toko suvenir tersebut, misalnya, para penjaganya memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang cukup baik. Setidaknya mampu menanyakan pertanyaan standar seperti apa yang saya cari, atau menjelaskan harga yang ditawarkan. Tentunya ini adalah satu usaha yang cukup besar, mengingat butuh perjuangan tersendiri bagi masyarakat Korea untuk dapat berbahasa Inggris. Mengingat cara penulisan dan pengucapan Bahasa Inggris berbeda jauh dengan Hangeul, bahasa lokal yang mereka gunakan.
Berpadunya keseriusan para pelaku bisnis yang terlibat dalam lingkaran Hallyu Wave, ditambah profesionalitas sumber daya manusianya, secara tidak langsung adalah faktor utama mengemukanya kejayaan budaya Korea di seluruh dunia. Banyak hal yang dapat dipelajari industri hiburan negara lain dari Korsel. Salah satu sumber belajar itu dapat ditemukan di DMC.

Acara variety show asal Korea Selatan sungguh kesukaan saya. Mungkin sudah banyak yang familiar dengan Running Man, Infinity Challenge atau Weekly Idol. Ketiganya sudah cukup lama tayang dan memiliki banyak penggemar berat, tidak hanya di Korea namun secara internasional. Namun kali ini bukan tiga acara tersebut yang mau saya ceritakan, tapi satu acara yang tahun ini sudah memasuki musim kelima, I Can See Your Voice (ICSYV)
Sebagai penggemar berat musik Korea, acara-acara yang berhubungan dengan musik tentu favorit saya. Salah satu kegemaran saya menonton Immortal Songs atau King of Masked Singers, dimana penyanyi asli tampil membawakan lagu dengan jenis musik yang berbeda dari genre asli mereka. Acara reality show pencarian bakat seperti Produce 101, The Unit, Superstar K, the Voice of Korea atau Unpretty Rapstar juga menarik minat saya. Namun, kesemua acara tersebut sungguh kental nuansa musikalitasnya, sehingga ICSYV membawa sensasi yang berbeda.
Memiliki tiga host, dua di antaranya berbakat komedian, tidak heran apabila ICSYV kental dengan nuansa komedi. Yoon Se Yeon adalah komedian berbakat Korea, sementara Leeteuk walaupun berprofesi sebagai penyanyi, namun terkenal sebagai pembawa acara teve yang lucu. Host ketiga, Kim Jong Kook, adalah penyanyi solo dengan suara indah dan kepribadian yang khas. Harmoni ketiganya berpadu dengan panelis yang disebut tone-deaf detective team, berpadu menciptakan acara yang sangat menghibur.
Tujuan dari acara ini adalah mengenali mereka yang tidak dapat menyanyi (memiliki suara sumbang-tone deaf), mengeliminasinya seawal mungkin agar di akhir acara, hanya penyanyi yang memiliki suara yang benar-benar merdu yang bertahan. Penyanyi ini nantinya akan berduet dengan bintang tamu yang datang ke acara ini. Tugas bintang tamu, dengan arahan mc dan panelis (walaupun terkadang menyesatkan), adalah menentukan siapa yang tereliminasi dan bertahan. Terdapat tujuh peserta dalam setiap acara yang harus dikenali bintang tamu. Penyanyi yang memiliki nada sumbang bisa satu, bisa lima, tidak terduga. Momen menebak-nebak ini menambah keseruan acara.
Acara dibagi dalam beberapa tahap berikut:
Sesi 1 - Dua profil yang membingungkan
Terlihat pada gambar di atas, profil yang diberikan oleh acara ini. Akan terdapat dua profil pada setiap peserta. Profil pertama, sebelah kiri: apabila ia penyanyi yang memang memiliki suara merdu, ia aslinya adalah seorang Miss Korea. Profile kedua, sebelah kanan: apabila ia memiliki suara sumbang, ia sebenarnya seorang penari perut. Bintang tamu harus menebak kira-kira profil mana yang cocok dengan penampilan peserta. Hanya berbekal dari profil ini.
Sesi 2 - Lipsync dengan lagu yang sama
Melalui satu lagu, peserta di panggung (sebelah kiri) akan adu lipsync dengan peserta yang berbeda di layar (sebelah kanan). Bintang tamu harus mengira-ngira, peserta mana yang memiliki suara tersebut? apakah peserta yang hadir atau peserta di layar? Apabila peserta yang hadir terlihat lebih sesuai, berarti ia adalah penyanyi asli. Apabila nampaknya penyanyi di layar lebih sesuai dan menghayati, maka peserta yang hadir adalah penyanyi palsu.
Sesi 3 - Pembelaan dari panelis
Para panelis akan melakukan pembelaan terhadap peserta yang tersisa. Mirip seperti keadaan di pengadilan, bintang tamu boleh menanyakan satu pertanyaan dan panelis akan memberikan jawaban. Bintang tamu harus benar-benar menganalisis jawaban yang diberikan panelis. karena mereka bisa saja berbohong. Atau sebaliknya, berbicara benar namun tidak nampak meyakinkan.
Sesi 4 - Tersisa dua peserta
Di sesi terakhir ini, hanya akan tersisa dua peserta yang harus dipilih bintang tamu. Peserta terakhir yang dipilih akan duet bersama bintang tamu. Apabila peserta yang terpilih benar memiliki suara merdu, ia akan mendapatkan kontrak rekaman untuk mengeluarkan album. Apabila sebaliknya, peserta akan mendapatkan hadiah uang.
Sesi yang tak kalah seru sekaligus mendebarkan adalah STAGE OF TRUTH, dimana peserta yang tereliminasi akan naik ke atas panggung dan menunjukkan talentanya.
Bintang tamu dan panelis serta MC bisa terkejut apabila ternyata mereka salah memilih peserta yang tereliminasi seperti di atas,
Atau bernapas lega karena memang benar yang terpilih si tone-deaf hahahah
Kemudian, moment of truth terakhir juga mendebarkan...
Saat-saat bintang tamu akhirnya berduet dengan peserta pilihan mereka.

What is a name? Shakespeare might say, but in TVXQ case, it means a lot.
All names might revolve the same thing: Rising Gods from East, but they have different names while promoting in different area. International wise, they use TVXQ, might be cause it's seems easier to pronounce in English.
I reckoned TVXQ in three different eras.
THE FIRST ERA
This is when the magic started.
They started as five, debuted in 2004 with "Hug" - a cutie-pie single that will melt every teenage girls in a heartbeat.
The members:
Jung Yunho (U-Know) - Leader with a superb skill in Dancing.
Kim Jaejoong (Hero) - Face of the group with super handsome feature and soft voice.
Park Yoochun (Micky) - Rapper with fluent English.
Kim Junsu (Xiah) - Main Vocal with honey-like voice
Shim Changmin (Max) - Maknae with high-pitched voice
Seeing the composition of the group, made no wonder that these are the recipe of a success boy-group. SM Entertainment prepare a well deserve successors of both H.O.T and Shinhwa. The full stories of the group could be find here.
Both their third and fourth album received Album of the Year award. The hit single from their fourth album called Mirotic became one of the iconic song of Kpop until today. TVXQ acclaimed the top spot boy-group of that time. Not only in Korea, Japan also in a great Tohoshinki-disease.
The dispute come from members Hero, Micky and Xiah that decided to left the group on 2010, change everything. Still, this era paved great foundation for Boy-group to lead the Hallyu Wave.
My two favorite from this era were, Korean and Japanese version:
Yes, I am that Noona fell for Changmin and the kitten kissing. LOL.
How could you not love this song? It's eerily happy-go-lucky one.
THE SECOND ERA
What is the probability of your favorite members stayed in a group?
Knowing Kpop full-heartedly since early 2000, idol group doesn't last long. If it's not because of the contract ended, it could be members left.
H.O.T are my faves that decided to disband when the contract ended. Wonder Girls is never be the same when they change member Hyuna in the early days. There's always THAT probabilities. Nothing stay forever and ever. Shinhwa and Fly to the Sky is an exception. They stayed the same through thick and thin.
In TVXQ case, left out by three members, leave Yunho and Changmin in the group. The best part is, both are my faves! I never be Cassies at heart when they are five, I am more an Elf that time, but when they become duo, I instantly love it.
It is heartbreaking that time, waiting whether Yunho and Changmin will continue TVXQ or not. When the three members not waiting a long time to debut as JYJ, Yunho and Changmin are nowhere to be seen.
Not until almost two years later, in 2011, they decided to make a grand comeback with Keep Your Head Down. I must said I never been that impressed. I love every single songs in the album. Its on repeat many times on my playlist.
Yunho and Changmin bring the new era of TVXQ, no doubt about that. While some of their loyal fan disappeared, they still remains strong, especially in Japan. TVXQ is the only Korean group that had different fandom names for their fan. Generally, their fan called Cassiopeia or Cassies in short, referred to a constellation in the Northern Sky. This name was suggested by Changmin. But for their big market in Japan, the fan has their own special name, BigEast. This is indicated how big their market in Japan is.
TVXQ even sell-out their biggest to date album yet in Japan, called Tone. They reached many new achievement in Japan as duo, as you can see some of it here.
This is my favorite era from them. Yunho become so dependable and the Maknae become so much more mature. It blend well to their harmonization and chemistry on stage. I think this is the time where they proved to the audience how strong they are.
What I love from this era?
Though I love Keep Your Head Down to death, I couldn't resist Catch Me when watching it live. See that smooth back? You bet that is sexy in another level! There is a good cover of this song from the show I Can See Your Voice where TVXQ guesting here.
The song are so Tohoshinki-ish, sexy and smooth. I love this song so much.
THE THIRD ERA
Just when I thought they couldn't anywhere blow me away again, I was wrong.
The first warning, started when Yunho discharged from the military and performed at SMTOWN VI Live in Seoul last July 2017. Being one of the audience that time, Yunho alone outperformed both SNSD and Super Junior. It was an outstanding experience for me. I joined the Global Package that time, and I witnessed many who joined the same package are indeed, Tohoshinki fan. They came solely for Yunho, since Changmin still in military.
So, I couldn't wait the day Changmin discharged, reunited with his Hyung, and they make their official comeback.
Well, the day has finally arrived.
IT IS SURELY PAY-OFF THE TWO YEARS WORTH WAITING!
This is actually my main reason writing this post. I couldn't get enough of this comeback. Military surely made both of them becoming more mature and but also a bit loose. They are in the era where they didn't need to prove anything else aside stay true to their fan.
So many good reviews about the albums you can found in here, here and here.
They become much more solid this time around. All the songs from the album give different vibes. I am in love with Love Line so much. The live version is carefree and soothing in all the good way.
This dream to watch their concert is bloom again.
I surely hope I be able to join the sea of red in the near time.
Mata Raras mengikuti sosok paling tinggi dengan rambut
perak di layar. Pria tersebut mengenakan setelan kemeja putih dengan celana
panjang hitam dan jaket dengan warna senada dengan celananya, dalam kondisi
semua kancing depan terlepas. Terlihat tulisan berwarna merah akan kota yang
dianggap paling romantis di dunia, Paris, secara terbalik pada bagian depan
Jaket. Terdapat kalung choker
berwarna hitam menghiasi kerah kemeja putih. Riasan wajah cukup berat pada area
mata, dengan eyeliner hitam pekat,
memberi penekanan yang cukup akan tatapan mata dalam.
“Aduh!” Raras memekik ketika sebuah kotak berwarna
cokelat dilempar ke arahnya. Sekilas melirik, Raras langsung berteriak
terkejut.
“Kakak! Aduh, ini kan sudah kutunggu-tunggu,” sungut
Raras mengambil kotak tersebut yang tergelincir jatuh dari punggungnya ke arah
lantai.
“Pasti Korea-Koreaan lagi deh, sama kayak yang lagi kamu
tonton itu,” Mira, kakak Raras, beranjak ke sisi tempat tidur, menggeser posisi
Raras dari depan laptop. “Siapa namanya ini? Baki? Bayun?” Mira menunjuk ke
arah layar laptop.
“Baekhyun, Kak. Ini bukan Koreaan, EXO namanya. Ih Kakak,
sudah berapa kali dikasih tahu,” erang Raras sambil membuka bungkusan cokelat
yang dilempar Kakaknya tadi. Mira menggangguk-angguk mencoba memahami, matanya
masih tertuju pada layar yang menayangkan video yang tampaknya sudah diulang
Raras entah berapa kali, terlihat dari aktifnya tombol loop di kanan bawah. Puluhan kali sudah Raras menjelaskan mengenai
Baekhyun dan EXO ini, namun tetap susah bagi Mira menyimpan dalam ingatannya.
“Rrrrt,” suara ponsel Raras membuyarkan kegiatan
keduanya. Raras segera mengambil ponselnya dan mendapati satu nama yang tidak
asing muncul di layar. Mira melihat sekilas pada layar ponsel yang diletakkan
di sebelah laptop.
“Elya masih menghubungimu?” Suara Mira meninggi,
mengenali caller ID tersebut.
“Tenang saja, Kak. Sekarang berbeda,” Raras mengerling
dan memencet tombol hijau di ponselnya, bersiap menjawab panggilan tersebut.

“Pasti Kakakmu yang mengerjakannya!”
Raras mendongak ke arah sumber suara, memastikan suara
itu ditujukan kepadanya, ia menunjuk ke arah dirinya tidak yakin.
“Iya, kamu! Siapa lagi,” Elya nampak tidak sabar. “Kamu
ingin nilaiku jatuh di kelas Bu Ina, sehingga kamu minta tolong Kakakmu si
juara kelas mengerjakannya,” gusar Elya gemas. Tangan kanannya mencengkeram
lengan kiri Raras hingga memerah. Raras yakin warna tersebut setidaknya akan
bertahan tiga hari lamanya.
“Aduh, aduh,” Raras berusaha melepaskan dirinya, namun
cengkeraman Elya bertambah erat. Sekarang, tangan kiri Elya merambah ke ujung
rambut sebahunya, menariknya tanpa ampun. “Aduh!” Erang Raras, nafasnya
tercekat.
“Kamu benar-benar tidak tahu malu ya, kamu bisa apa tanpa
Kakakmu?”
“Aku... mengerjakannya... sendiri,” eja Raras
tersengal-sengal. Kedua tangannya berusaha melepaskan genggaman tangan Elya di
lengan dan rambutnya. Ia menyesal tidak mengindahkan Ria untuk menemaninya
tadi, sekarang ia terjebak di kamar mandi berdua dengan perempuan ini.
“Kamu simpan saja semua bualanmu, aku tidak akan
percaya,” Elya menarik rambut Raras lebih kuat lagi. Raras merasakan beberapa
helai rambutnya terlepas dan jatuh mengenai tengkuknya.
“Tolong lepaskan aku, tolong,” lirih Raras.
“Kamu itu tahu diri sedikit. Otak pas-pasan, tampang
juga. Tapi kelakuan kurang ajar sekali,” Elya meludah tepat di muka Raras.
“Anggap ini peringatan pertama,” Elya melepaskan genggamannya pada rambut dan
lengan Raras. Sebelum meninggalkan Raras, ia mematut dirinya di depan kaca
toilet, memastikan seragam sekolahnya tetap rapi setelah sebelumnya Raras
sempat menarik-nariknya.
Raras ingat betul peristiwa itu. Tidak sampai sehari
setelah nilai tugas Biologi keluar, mata pelajaran yang selama ini dikuasai
Elya, menempatkan Raras berada di peringkat pertama dengan nilai yang cukup
jauh dengan Elya di posisi kedua. Raras saat itu cukup terkejut dengan hasil
tugas praktikum tersebut, bukan karena ia bisa melejit ke posisi pertama, tapi
lebih karena Elya turun posisi. Raras bersungguh-sungguh dalam menyelesaikan
tugas tersebut. Mira memang memberinya beberapa saran, kakaknya itu sangat
pintar di semua bidang,namun Raras
berani sumpah bahwa tugas tersebut dikerjakannya sendiri.
Sejak itu, Elya tidak berhenti mengganggunya. Elya cukup
populer di SMA Kusuma Bangsa, pengaruhnya kuat, teman-temannya banyak. Tidak
butuh waktu lama untuk menjadikan Raras sebagai pecundang nomor satu di
sekolah. Raras selalu pulang sekolah berbalut sweter kuning kesukaannya yang
warnanya sampai berubah menjadi krem, akibat terlalu sering dipakai. Semua ia
lakukan untuk menutupi memar di kedua lengannya.
“Kok memarnya ga hilang-hilang sih, Ras?” Mira satu kali
bertanya.
“Kakak kan tahu, aku ceroboh. Kemarin kepentok meja,
Kak,” bohong Raras.
Mira menatap Raras dengan pandangan penuh tanya, paham
akan sikap Raras yang tidak suka didesak, Mira memutuskan memercayai adiknya.
Tidak sampai ketika Raras dilarikan ke rumah sakit,
akibat patah tulang yang diaku Raras akibat keseleo saat bermain bola voli,
baru Mira mengetahui kejadian sebenarnya dari Ria, sahabat Raras.
“Raras memang keseleo saat bermain bola voli, Kak.” Ria
terdiam, mencoba mengatur kalimatnya. “Tapi itu disengaja, area Raras berpijak
saat melakukan serve, sangat licin,”
akhirnya ia memutuskan berterus terang.

“Halo,” Raras mendengarkan suara di ujung ponsel dengan
seksama. Sesekali ia mengangguk pelan. “Bagus deh kalau gitu, jangan lupa besok
dibawa ya tugasnya. Oke. Sampai besok.” Raras memutus panggilan. Mira mengamati
adiknya, ia menaikkan sebelah alisnya ke arah adiknya.
“Elya telepon karena?” Mira tak sabar lagi. Adiknya tidak
juga membaca kode yang dikirimkannya.
“Oh itu,” ujar Raras tidak peduli, pandangannya tetap
terfokus pada paket cokelat yang sekarang telah berubah bentuk menjadi album
terbaru EXO-CBX bertajuk Blooming Days. “Dia
memberitahu kalau tugas Biologi untuk besok sudah selesai, dia akan membawakan
dua rangkap. Satu untuk aku,” lanjut Raras. Tangannya mengeluarkan photobook dari album yang digenggamnya,
membuka lembar demi lembarnya dengan seksama.
“Kok... bisa?” Tanya Mira. Nada suaranya perpaduan antara
heran dan takjub.
Raras meletakkan kembali photobook tersebut dan memusatkan perhatiannya ke arah kakaknya,
“kakak tahu kenapa aku suka Baekhyun?” Mira menggeleng. “Baekhyun itu salah
satu anggota EXO dengan masa pelatihan paling pendek, namun bisa menjadi vokal
utama di Grup. Ia juga terkenal suka berbicara terus terang, sehingga sering
menimbulkan kontroversi akibat ucapan-ucapannya. Kedua hal tersebut, membuat
dia menjadi anggota dengan jumlah haters
yang cukup banyak. Ia dianggap sombong, tidak tahu diri dan hal-hal buruk
lainnya.”
Mira mencoba mencerna penjelasan Adiknya. Terdengar
seperti dirinya, sosok Baekhyun ini.
“Seperti Kakak kan?” Raras seperti membaca pikirannya.
“Aku ingin seperti Kakak, ingin seperti Baekhyun. Tapi aku butuh waktu, karena
aku bukan Kakak. Aku butuh waktu untuk berani. Karenanya, aku berterima kasih
hari itu, di rumah sakit, Kakak mendengar permohonanku. Aku janji pada Kakak aku
akan menghentikan semua perbuatan Elya padaku. Aku tepati janjiku.”
Mira menggeser posisi duduknya, mencari tempat yang
nyaman. Sepertinya penjelasan adiknya akan memakan waktu cukup lama.
“Baekhyun baru saja terlibat dalam satu kontroversi
akibat salah ucap. Sebenarnya itu tidak sepenuhnya salah Baekhyun, tapi ia
tetap meminta maaf. Ia tidak ingin banyak pihak menjadi bertengkar karena
dirinya. Ia mengorbankan dirinya demi ketenangan banyak pihak,” Raras berhenti,
seakan berpikir. “Hal itu membuat aku tersadar. Aku bisa melakukan hal yang
sama. Aku meminta maaf pada Elya. Secara terbuka. Aku tulis di majalah sekolah,
broadcast di media sosial serta
mengirimkan surat pribadi untuknya juga. Aku minta maaf apabila selama ini ada
perilaku aku yang mengganggu dirinya.”
“Tapi, Ras,” potong Mira.
“Kak, seperti Baekhyun. Aku tidak masalah apabila hal
tersebut membuat aku menjadi rendah. Aku hanya ingin semuanya selesai, damai.
Capek, Kak.” Raras tersenyum. “Terbukti, banyak teman-teman ternyata mendukung
permintaan maafku itu, hal itu membuat Elya malu untuk tidak memaafkan aku,
kan. Sekarang, sebagai balasannya, ia selalu menawarkan diri membantu aku
sebisa dia. Ia menyesal juga, Kak. Rasa iri menjadikan ia seperti itu. Win-win kan, Kak.”
“Aku tidak sangka kamu sudah besar ya,” Mira
mengacak-acak rambut Raras. “Semua Koreaan ini ternyata ada gunanya juga.”
“Ih, Kakak.”
“Ayo, deh, sekarang Kakak mau lihat ini semua
lagu-lagunya seperti apa, sih. Kayanya boleh juga ini yang rambutnya cokelat,”
gurau Mira sambil kembali menunjuk ke layar kaca.
“Chen ini, Kak. Dia vokal utama juga...,”
Mira hanya mengangguk-angguk mendengar ocehan adiknya
yang lebih panjang dari sebelumnya, saat ia menjelaskan tentang Elya. Kali ini
Mira mendukung seratus persen kesukaan Adiknya tersebut. Ternyata ada
manfaatnya juga.
